Sport and War

Sport and war have featured strongly throughout our nation’s history and identity. Drawing on the Australian War Memorial’s rich collections, this touring exhibition tells remarkable stories of the importance of sport to Australians serving overseas, as well as the war-time experiences of some of our most loved sporting stars.

The Australian War Memorial located in the nation’s capital, Canberra, tells the story of Australia’s experience in world wars, regional conflicts and international peacekeeping. It commemorates the sacrifice of those Australian men and women who died serving our country and all those who have served in the defence of Australia’s national interests.
